Mother’s Day Gifts

It’s that time of year again where we appreciate the ladies who gave us life, the women who have been our female role models as well as those ladies who may not be our biological Mothers, but throughout our lives have been an honorary Mother. This Sunday 11th March, it is Mother’s Day here in the U.K. (just in case you needed a reminder). If you’re stuck for ideas on what to treat your mum to this Mother’s day, then carry on reading!

Luxurious Treats If your mum likes something chic and sophisticated The White Company is the brand is for her. They have so much variation from gorgeous smelling candles to the softest jumpers you could wish for. They also have a 15% off promotion this week!

CandlesThere is just something so wonderful about receiving candles as gifts; whatever your budget is from Primark to Yankee Candles to Diptique, a candle is very thoughtful and is a gift I honestly think everyone can appreciate. For me it shows that someone knows me well enough, when they can buy me a candle that is one of my favourites (one gorgeous scent is the Winter Candle by The White Company). It also shows that this person took time to think of something that they could gift me especially for my wind down time, something that we all could do more of. Maybe it’s a sign that I’m getting older or maybe I really am turning into my mother like they say you do. Either way candles are a strong contender on my Mother’s Day list!

Jewellery –  A Pandora moment is very appropriate for Mother’s Day! From beads for your Mother’s charm bracelet to stacking rings, Pandora has it all. What’s more is that it is very affordable and good quality! Other honorable mentions go to Thomas Sabo and Not On The High Street.

Books – Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club has some brilliant ideas for books to read. A lot of these books that she has recommended Reese has gone on to produce the film version of it and of course star in it. Gone Girl, Big Little Lies – Yes, our darling Reese recommended and added a spotlight onto these genius and captivating stories. With Summer creeping ever nearer, gifting a book will definitely get it’s use. Whether it’s on a sun-lounger in August or in these increasingly longer and delightful evenings, a book for Mother’s Day will certainly be thoroughly enjoyed.

Beauty – Perhaps one of the safest of them all. Buying your Mum’s favourite perfume, that lipstick she has been eyeing up, or that pricey Anti-Aging Moisturizer that she just cannot quite justify buying for herself is a thoughtful gift that will be cherished!

Something outside of the box Groupon, Wowcher and a Buyagift are just a few examples of sites that have tons of ideas of activities that you can gift someone. Unlike the items listed above, it’s something you may not necessarily buy for yourself. Some of my favourites include:

  • Afternoon tea – Afternoon tea is the perfect idea for a girly gossip over some tea, cake and finger sandwiches with your mum! There are so many hotels that offer these experiences throughout London, you can make this occasion a whole day out.
  • Spa treatment – A massage, facial or a spa weekend goes a long way! There’s nothing quite like saying Thank You than a de-stress massage…especially one that can be a Mother and Daughter Day!

Or Perhaps your mother always wanted to go on a balloon ride? Try their balance at some segway? Attend a cookery class? Climb down the O2? You name it, sites like these have it all!

I hope that this has helped with some inspiration for shopping for your Mother on her special day. If you have any other ideas for gift shopping, drop me a comment below!

  1. Wow, Reese Witherspoon’s book club sounds cool, she’s cool! I went for 2 books for mum this year, one of which is “The Artist’s Way”, by Julia Cameron.
