Try Before You Buy: Latest Summer Beauty Additions

In March I attended the much awaited Glamour Beauty Festival and to my pleasure I came back home with a face of fresh make-up, my hair styled to the 9’s, my nails newly painted with Orly’s and in hand was also a big metallic bag full of goodies. Throughout the day I strutted around London in a pair of heeled booties (if not in London when can you?) resulting in stylish but poor blistered feet . Nonetheless I knew that both the day and the goodie bag would definitely be worth it! I’ve been trialling some of the products I received over the last few weeks and here are my top 3 that I’ve been using and would recommend to you lovely readers. Think of this post as a try before you buy, so you can have confidence that you have made only wise purchasing decisions; as there’s nothing worse than buying a product or two to only find it’s useless for your desired beauty need!

3. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream

In a surprising third place (but still in my top 3) comes the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Intensively Moisturising Hand Treatment. I heard many promises of the 8 Hour Cream that it would be life changing and was certain that this would be a firm favourite. The hand cream is instantly moisturising and the classic packaging is elegant and handbag friendly size. However I’m not a huge fan of the scent; it’s a bit too medicated for me. Although moisturised and smoother hands they may be, the smell of this cream for me means that I wouldn’t be buying it myself. However this is completely subjective and you may find that you quite like the smell and/or the benefits of the product outweigh the cons (or con in this case!) Although I cannot testify that it does indeed last a whole 8 hours, this cream does leave your dry skin hydrated and does not leave a greasy residue. I still keep it in my handbag and apply it to my hands 2-3 times a day.

2. Tigi Bed Head Bee Hive Dry Shampoo

I know what you’re thinking. Lies! Only Batiste’s dry shampoo is the true Universal Beauty Queen of dry shampoos. From root covering wonders, cherry scents and paradise beaches; Batiste has it all. I know. I thought so too. This was certainly proved when once a blue moon ago, I lived life on the dark side and bought Aussie’s dry shampoo. Only to be very disappointed and felt guilty that I had cheated on my beloved Batiste. So surely Tigi’s Bee Hive Dry Shampoo can’t be the one? Oh how wonderfully wrong I was! I have medium to fine dyed blonde hair and this dry shampoo works just as well as Batiste and what’s more it smells of Summer. There is no fallout of powder and the product stays true to it’s name with the volume effect you want with every dry shampoo. Just one application of this product also tends to last me for two days, perfect for in-between hair washes or for any festival goers out there. Tigi, you may well be my new favourite.

1. Pixi Rose Tonic Water

Coming up in first place is my new favourite skincare product. Shamelessly I hadn’t heard of Pixi until the Glamour Beauty Festival and now it’s a brand that I have noticed more and more. For those of you who want to get glowing skin, simply washing your face isn’t enough. Toner’s are great at removing all the unwanted dirt from your face, particularly for oily or acne prone skin. In my current skincare routine I have been using Nivea’s Daily Essentials Cleansor and Toner. It leaves my skin fresh and smooth. However I have also been using Pixi Rose Tonic morning and night and I have found that even more oil is removed off my face. The rose is very subtle and not overpowering and has elements of elderflower. As a result I’ve had less breakouts and I’m noticing a more dewy look to my skin! The toner is really nourishing and leaves your skin feel smooth but not stripped as so many toners do. It’s also free from parabens and the brand doesn’t test on animals for those of you interested!

If you have any products that you recommend I should try I would love to hear from you in the comments.
